Booker T. Washington: Born on April 5, 1856, Washington was an educator, author, orator, and advisor to multiple U.S. presidents. He was the founder of the Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) and a leading voice for African Americans during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
